When you run Network Unity Chat for the first time, Windows may show a blue screen saying "Windows Protected Your PC." This is normal and does not mean the app is a virus. Here is why it happens and how to get past it.
Windows Defender SmartScreen — what it is and why it fires
Windows SmartScreen flags any app that does not have a code-signing certificate from Microsoft. These certificates cost hundreds of dollars per year and are only worth it for large commercial software. Network Unity Chat is a free indie app, so it is not signed — which is completely normal for free tools.
SmartScreen does not scan the file for viruses. It just checks whether the developer paid for a certificate. The warning does not mean the app is dangerous. If you are still unsure, scroll down — you can try the chat in your browser first before installing anything.
Two clicks and you are in
You do not need to download anything to see that Network Unity is real. Visit the full Network Unity website — the chat works right there in your browser. See it for yourself before you install the app.
